Two Tips For Starting The Dress Hunt
Let the hunt begin
The venue is organised, the photographer booked, at the back of your mind you know you need to start thinking about that dress...but where to start?
One google search for wedding dresses is enough to scare any bride-to-be to run away and bury her head in the sand. How on earth do you narrow it down? Will I just walk in and find the one dress for me? What if I pick the wrong dress/colour/style?
Before you look at a single dress or start your secret Pinterest board ( Top Tip : Need to schedule hours of browsing for this, essential wedding planning time ). There are two things you need to think about firstly.
Your Style ... Don't get scared now! This is not about shape or body figures.
For me a wedding dress should reflect a brides personality. You should look and feel 100% like you ... a stunning beautiful version of you, but you. Looking back at your wedding pictures you don't want to see someone you hardly recognise. I believe the same goes for weddings , they are a reflection of your style and taste ..whatever that maybe.
So have a think about your wedding, is it a formal event, vintage inspired, relaxed beach shindig..etc. Get an idea of the style you are going with. This helps you to narrow down the type of dress you are looking for because your dress should compliment this style.
Your Budget?....seriously this is really important!
Because it's not just about the dress. There are the shoes, hosiery, underwear, jewellery, hair piece veil, hair and make up,the list goes on. Set a budget for your full outfit for the day because it does add up.
This is going to be (for most of us) the biggest clothing purchase of your life. If the dress is not your top priority spend your budget else where.
You need to be realistic. You don't want to fall in love with a dress that is thousands above your budget . So don't try on 3,000 euro dresses if you only want to spend 1,500 euro.. it will only end in heartbreak.
So do take some time out before you begin to get a feel for the style of wedding you are planning and do set a budget....now go forward and hunt!
Have fun it's an exciting time and no stressing allowed.
